Notice Wood Floor Painting and Refinishing at FRAC
Work begins Aug. 8 • All floors completed by Aug. 29
From Aug. 8-29, crews will be working on the wood floors at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, including the basketball gymnasium, Exercise Studio A and three racquetball courts. As part of the10-year maintenance necessary to extend the life of these floors, the crews will remove varnish, sand the surfaces, paint new lines and apply a three-coat protective finish. Please note that the gymnasium will be completed first because of the size of the job and the amount of preparation required. Although the products used in this process are non-toxic, and classes will be moved to other spaces in the center, some individuals may be sensitive to the smells produced during the work. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Bus Temporary Park N Ride Location at the FRAC
Glendale Parks & Recreation is currently partnering with the city’s Transportation Department to provide a temporary Park N Ride location for Valley Metro bus routes 573 and 575 at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center. Approximately 50 spaces toward the far western portion of the parking lot will be used. This location was specifically chosen as recreation staff felt it minimized the impact on the members of the center. The Transportation Department has also dedicated a staff person to monitor the area to ensure the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center patrons are unaffected by the temporary Park N Ride location. For questions call 623-930-4608, Parks & Recreation, or 623-930-3509, Transit Management.

Can You Say "Pickleball?"
Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. (4 courts); Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (2 courts) - Hours subject to change.
What is pickleball, you ask? Pickleball is a paddle sport which combines the elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and uses wood, composite or fiberglass paddles. The game is played on a badminton court with nets lowered to 34" at the center. Easy for beginners to learn, it can develop into a quick, fast-paced game for experienced players. Just show up and enjoy the fun, as all equipment is provided by the center.
